GTT secures HHI tank order for LNG quartet

France’s GTT has won a contract from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries to design tanks for four new LNG carriers.

The LNG containment giant said Hyundai Heavy would build the 200,000-cbm LNG carriers for a European shipowner but it did not name the firm.

The newbuilds would feature GTT’s Mark III Flex+ membrane containment system, according to the French firm.

In addition, Hyundai Heavy would deliver the ships between the third quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, GTT said.

Hyundai Heavy revealed this order in a recent stock exchange filing saying it would build four vessels for about $802 million.

The Korean yard did not reveal the name of the owner as well, but brokers reported after the announcement that Greece’s Dynagas is behind the order.
