Singapore’s Keppel inks hydrogen pact with DNV

Keppel Offshore & Marine and classification society DNV are joining forces to work on the hydrogen value chain in Singapore in order to support the country’s decarbonization goals.

The overall aim of the collaboration is to explore safe implementation of potential new technologies, according to a joint statement on Thursday.

The duo would work with relevant governmental agencies to “promote the introduction of hydrogen as an energy source in the Singapore market.”

Together, DNV and Keppel O&M will cooperate to explore and develop a range of topics, including safety requirements for hydrogen, infrastructure requirements for hydrogen storage and local transportation but also offshore applications for hydrogen technology.

Moreover, the duo would carry out some of the safety studies and pilot activities within Keppel O&M’s floating living lab, the first-of-its-kind floating testbed in Singapore.

This agreement on hydrogen follows a previous partnership between the two firms to boost LNG as ship fuel.
