Cepsa, Redexis launch new Spanish LNG filling station

Spanish energy firm Cepsa and compatriot gas distributor Redexis have launched a new LNG filling station for trucks, located in Castillejo de Iniesta.

This marks the fourth refueling station for natural gas vehicles the two firms have opened together.

It is part of the strategic agreement by which both companies committed to create the largest network of LNG and CNG stations in Spain, according to a joint statement.

Redexis has invested nearly 600,000 euros ($714,820) to carry out the construction of this facility, which supplies LNG for heavy-duty transport, the statement said.

The facility is located on the A-3, the highway linking Madrid and Valencia, near the town of Castillejo de Iniesta, a strategic location for the transportation of goods between the center of the peninsula and the Mediterranean area, with over 5,000 heavy vehicles traveling daily, the duo said.

In addition to this new station, both companies have NGV refueling facilities in Puerto Lumbreras, Mercazaragoza and Trujillo.

During the first half of 2021, they plan to start up another three service stations in some of the main national transportation corridors.

Moreover, these stations will be located at Cepsa service stations in the provinces of Madrid, Jaen and Salamanca.

Redexis plans to invest 60 million euros ($71.5 million) through 2023 to undertake the construction and maintenance of 80 gas stations located at Cepsa service stations. Cepsa will be in charge of supplying and marketing the stations.
