Croatian FSRU gets new LNG cargo

Croatia has received a new LNG cargo at its floating storage and regasification unit located at the Krk facility in the northern Adriatic Sea.

The 138,000-cbm Sestao Knutsen arrived at the LNG Croatia FSRU on Thursday, according to its AIS data.

State-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia confirmed the arrival of the vessel later on Thursday.

The 2007-built vessel, owned by Knutsen, will deliver the eighth cargo to the FSRU since the start of commercial operations on January 1.

It previously loaded LNG at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, its AIS data shows.

This marks the sixth US shipment to land at the LNG Croatia FSRU.

Three cargoes came from Freeport, and one each from Cove Point, Cameron LNG, and Nigeria’s Bonny LNG terminal. One shipment also arrived from Belgium’s Zeebrugge.

The FSRU also supplied a small cargo in May to Avenir LNG’s dual-purpose bunkering and supply vessel Avenir Accolade.

Besides the FSRU, the Krk import facility consists of a jetty and a high-pressure gas pipeline.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

Switzerland-based trading firm MET, Hungary’s MFGK but also Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.

LNG Croatia said in a statement on Wednesday that MET Croatia has contracted additional regasification capacity in March, followed by the main shareholder Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP) in June.
