Chinese shipbuilder Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry said it has delivered a 28,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas carrier.
This marks first-ever LNG vessel delivery by Cosco’s Dalian shipyard, the shipbuilder said in a statement.
Dalian Inteh Group placed an order for the small-scale LNG carrier back in 2013.
But Cosco reportedly cancelled the shipbuilding contract as the owner did not make payments on time.
Now the vessel will serve a joint venture consisting of Hong Kong-listed VPower Group and China National Technical Import & Export Corporation.
The newbuild will serve as a shuttle vessel for LNG-powered plants in Myanmar the venture is developing.
The LNG carrier CNTIC VPower Global, previously named Qi Yuan, is 176.8 meters long and 27.6 meters wide.
It features three type C LNG tanks with the largest tank having a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters.
The vessel features dual-fueled engines supplied by Finland’s Wartsila.
