Dynagas names first FSRU in China

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua has hosted a naming ceremony for the first out of two FSRUs it is building for Greek shipping company Dynagas.

The ceremony for the 174,000-cbm Transgas Power took place at Hudong’s yard on Changxing Island, Shanghai on Monday, according to the shipbuilder.

Brokers have reported that the FSRU would go on a one-year charter to France’s TotalEnergies but we could not confirm this by the time this article was published.

The vessel should soon leave Hudong’s yard.

To remind, Hudong said in May that the 294 meters long and 47 meters wide FSRU had completed its gas trials.

CSSC’s unit Hudong launched this first Chinese-built FSRU on March 30 last year, followed by the float out of its sister ship Transgas Force in December.

Both of the FSRUs feature three Wartsila regasification modules. Each regas unit will have a capacity of 250 million standard cubic feet per day. The rated send-out capacity is about 500 million standard cubic feet per day.

In addtion, the FSRUs have MAN dual-fuel diesel-electric propulsion but also GTT’s NO96 containment system.
