Shell adds four new LNG filling stations in Germany

Shell said it has opened four new LNG retail stations for the heavy-duty road transport sector in Germany as it looks to meet a growing demand for the fuel in the country.

This means that LNG-powered trucks can now refuel at sixteen Shell stations in the country, Shell’s German unit said in a statement.

Shell has earlier this year also launched four new stations.

The new Shell LNG stations are located in Ramstein, Geiselwind, Herzsprung, and Himmelkron.

Moreover, the LNG filling facility in Geiselwind is one of the smaller stations with one dispenser, but it can still supply up to 100 LNG trucks a day.

On the other side, Ramstein, Himmelkron, and Herzsprung have two LNG dispensers and they have a capacity of 30 tons or up to 200 trucks per day, according to Shell.

Shell plans to open new locations in Germany in the autumn. The LNG giant is looking to launch up to 40 filling stations in Germany in the next few years, it said in the statement.

In addition to the stations in Germany, Shell has also 32 LNG stations for trucks in Europe, the firm said.
