Woodside, EDL ink two Pluto LNG trucking deals

A joint venture between Woodside and EDL has signed two new contracts to supply LNG from the Pluto truck loading facility near Karratha in Western Australia.

To remind, the duo signed a 10-year deal in April to supply trucked LNG to Strandline’s Coburn mineral sands project in Western Australia. Also, Coburn will use the LNG supplies for power generation at the mine.

Following this contract, Woodside and EDL Energy signed a sales and purchase agreement with Abra Mining as well, Woodside said in its second-quarter report.

Under the five-year contract, the duo will supply LNG via road train from Woodside’s Pluto LNG truck loading facility to the Abra Base Metals project in Western Australia.

In addition, the duo signed another contract with Calidus Resources. This contract is for a term of seven years and the LNG supplies will go to the Warrawoona Gold project in Western Australia.

Woodside did not provide any additional information on the contracts.

The Australian LNG firm and EDL started delivering liquefied natural gas to customers from the Pluto truck loading facility back in 2019.

Located at Woodside’s Pluto LNG export terminal on the Burrup Peninsula, the facility can load up to 200,000 tonnes of LNG per year, displacing up to 300 million liters of diesel, according to Woodside.
