Latsco’s second LNG newbuild nearing delivery

Greece’s Latsco Shipping, a unit of Latsis Group, will soon take delivery of its second LNG newbuild from South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Hellas Athina is currently undergoing sea trials, according to its AIS data.

It should join the Greek firm’s fleet by the end of August or in September.

To remind, Latsco Shipping has earlier this year welcomed Hellas Diana, the firm’s first-ever LNG newbuild.

Latsco ordered two sister vessels via Consolidated Marine Management at the Korean yard back in November 2018. The order had a price tag of about $370 million.

This marked the first move in the LNG shipping segment for Latsco that operates a fleet of 29 vessels.

Commodity trader Trafigura has chartered both of the LNG carriers.

As per specifications, the new vessels are 297 meters long and about 46 meters wide.

Both of the newbuilds feature WinGD’s dual-fuel X-DF engines and GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system.

In addition, Finland’s Wartsila has earlier this year signed a five-year maintenance agreement for the two LNG carriers with Latsco LNG Marine Management, a unit of Latsco Shipping.
