Gloryholder to supply LNG cargo system for Keppel’s floating lab

China’s Gloryholder Liquefied Gas Machinery has won a contract to supply its LNG cargo handling system for Keppel Offshore & Marine’s floating living lab in Singapore.

Gloryholder said in a statement it had secured the deal from Keppel O&M in November 2020.

Under the deal, Gloryholder LGM will provide the complete LNG cargo handling system, including one LNG type C tank, LNG cargo remote-measuring and CTS system.

The contract also includes ESD System, liquid cargo BOG handling and gas supply system, nitrogen Generator, as well as commissioning, and crew training, the Chinese firm said.

Moreover, Gloryholder LGM said it would deliver the equipment to the shipyard in the first quarter of 2022.

The engineering firm did not reveal financial details of the contract.

Finland’s Wartsila also recently revealed it would supply engine generating sets, which would run on a hydrogen and natural gas blend, for the floating living lab.

The living lab, the first-of-its-kind offshore floating testbed in Singapore, will feature a floating barge with LNG bunkering facilities for harbour crafts and small vessels.

It will also house an embedded power generation system to power Keppel O&M’s operations, while excess electricity will go to the national grid or in the facilities’ energy storage systems.

Furthermore, the power generation system would operate on two Wartsila 34SG engines running on natural gas/LNG and having a combined output of 11.6 MW, the engine manufacturer said.
