Hudong to deliver first LNG carrier to CSSC Shipping

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua will soon deliver the first LNG carrier it is building for CSSC Shipping, the financial leasing unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

Hudong, also part of CSSC, said the 174,000-cbm Mu Lan has completed its gas trials and returned to its yard on Changxing Island, Shanghai on Thursday. The gas trials took 14 days.

The trials were affected by the typhoon In-Fa (fireworks) that brought heavy rainfall and record flooding in east China.

With the completion of gas trials, the LNG carrier is almost ready for delivery to the owner. According to the current schedule, Hudong should deliver Mu Lan in September.

Furthermore, the yard also recently signed another contract with CSSC Shipping for the third LNG carrier.

Part of Hudong’s fourth-generation Changxing series, all the LNG carriers will feature WinGD’s X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.

They will be 295 meters long and 45 meters wide.
