US LNG export firm Cheniere said it has started early commissioning activities at the sixth Sabine Pass production train in Louisiana.
Cheniere’s chief executive Jack Fusco revealed this during the company’s quarterly earnings call on Thursday.
To remind, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) said in a letter dated June 29 it had approved Cheniere’s request to introduce gas and commission the Train 6 fuel gas system.
Fusco also said during the call that the project had reached 89.6 percent completion as of the end of June.
In addition, Cheniere still expects substantial completion at the liquefaction unit in the first half of the next year.
The 25 mtpa Sabine Pass plant has five operational trains and is currently the largest such facility in the US.
Bechtel is building the sixth train which will add 5 mtpa of capacity to the facility.
In total, this is the ninth train the engineering giant is building for Cheniere, including the Corpus Christi plant where Bechtel handed over the third train earlier this year.
