PGNiG sells two Klaipeda small-scale LNG cargoes

Poland’s PGNiG has sold the first two LNG cargoes from the small-scale reloading station in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.

CRYO Shipping, a Norwegian LNG bunker fuel supplier, purchased both of the cargoes, according to a statement by PGNiG.

The Polish state-run firm loaded the cargoes onto two trucks used for bunkering the cement carrier Greenland at the Klaipeda jetty.

Norway’s JT Cement owns the LNG-powered vessel.

“Despite the challenging market conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it took us only a week to launch our operations in Klaipeda,” said Jerzy Kwieciński, president of the PGNiG management board.

He added that this confirms the small-scale LNG markets in Lithuania and the other Baltic countries have “considerable potential”.

To remind, the Klaipeda reloading facility sprung into action on April 1st, 2020.

PGNiG is the only user of the Klaipedos Nafta-operated small-scale facility located at the entrance to the port.

The reloading station has five tanks with a total capacity of 5,000 cubic metres or 2,250 tonnes of LNG.

It also features two loading stations for LNG trucks and ISO containers, which can be used simultaneously.

The jetty is not only capable of receiving but also loading LNG.
