Vlantana boosts LNG-powered truck fleet

Lithuanian transport firm Vlantana is continuing to expand its fleet of LNG-powered trucks as it looks to slash emissions and costs.

The Klaipeda-based company, where Lithuania’s first and only FSRU-based LNG import terminal is located, said it has this year increased its fleet to 65 LNG/LBG Iveco S-Way NP trucks.

“In the context of building a climate-neutral economy, LNG has an important role to play: the use of LNG in heavy-duty vehicles contributes to the long-term goal of the European Union to reduce CO2 emissions from cars and vans by at least 40% by 2030,” Vlantana said.

The new trucks would operate in foreign markets as Lithuania has not yet built a network of LNG filling stations, according to Vlantana.

Also, the trucks would mainly travel between Germany and the Benelux countries which have already developed LNG station networks, Vlantana said.
