Cepsa, Redexis open new LNG filling station in Spain

Spanish energy firm Cepsa and compatriot gas distributor Redexis have opened another LNG filling station for trucks, located in the city of Getafe.

This marks the fifth refueling station for natural gas vehicles the two firms have opened together as they look to develop a network of LNG and CNG facilities in Spain. It follows the fourth station launched in June.

Redexis has invested over one million euros ($1.18 million) to carry out the construction of this new facility in Getafe, which supplies both LNG for heavy-duty vehicles and CNG for light transport, according to a joint statement on Monday.

In addition to this new station, the two companies have NGV refueling facilities in Puerto Lumbreras, Mercazaragoza, Trujillo, and Castillejo de Iniesta.

In the coming months, Cepsa and Redexis plan to open another three service stations in some of the main national transport corridors.

The duo would launch the facilities at Cepsa service stations in the provinces of Salamanca, Ciudad Real, and Pontevedra, as well as another two CNG stations in Madrid, the statement said.

Redexis and Cepsa previously agreed to create the largest network of LNG and CNG refueling stations in Spain, with the goal of expanding the supply of energy solutions and promoting sustainable mobility.

In that agreement, Redexis committed to making an investment of 60 million euros ($71.2 million) through 2023 to undertake the construction and maintenance of 80 fueling stations located at Cepsa service stations, the statement said.
