Linde, Renaissance Heavy score Ust-Luga LNG EPC deal

Linde and Renaissance Heavy Industries have won a contract to build a large LNG export plant in the Baltic port of Ust-Luga, according to Russia’s Gazprom.

The 13 mtpa LNG plant is a part of the giant natural gas production complex in Ust-Luga. RusKhimAlyans, the project operator of the complex established on a parity basis by Gazprom and RusGazDobycha, started building the complex in May this year.

RusKhimAlyans, Linde, and Renaissance Heavy signed the EPC contract for the natural gas liquefaction plant on Thursday in St. Petersburg, Gazprom said in the statement.

Under the contract, the consortium of Linde and Renaissance Heavy will provide design works and supplies of equipment and materials, as well as perform the construction and installation of two production trains with a total capacity of 13 mtpa.

Also, Gazprom said that the LNG plant would feature a technology patented in Russia. Gazprom and Linde are the patent holders for the LNG production technology.

To remind, Gazprom and RusGazDobycha agreed to build the gas processing, liquefaction, and helium complex worth more than 700 billion rubles ($9.5 billion) in March last year.

The Russian giant previously said it had expected the first LNG train of the complex to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the second train in the fourth quarter of 2024.
