GTT launches new smart shipping solution

French LNG containment firm GTT said it has launched a new smart shipping solution that helps in optimizing the energy performance of vessels.

The digital solution called LNG Optim, “helps LNG operators, and LNG carrier or LNG-fueled vessel owners, to prepare the voyages of their vessels in order to reduce the overall fuel consumption and to manage boil-off gas in the tanks,” according to GTT.

GTT said the solution is based on its expertise in studying boil-off gas management. It developed the new tech in collaboration with the group’s subsidiaries, Ascenz, Marorka, and OSE Engineering.

Moreover, GTT says major players in the LNG shipping sector have already adopted the new solution.

“The studies performed by GTT to design this solution took into account the modelling of complex phenomena such as LNG ageing, the influence of sea states on boil-off gas generation, as well as the impact of active systems like reliquefaction plants and sub-coolers,” the Paris-based firm said.
