Croatian FSRU receives 13th LNG cargo

Croatia’s first and only floating storage and regasification unit, located at the Krk facility in the northern Adriatic Sea, has received another shipment of LNG.

According to state-owned terminal operator LNG Croatia, the 174,000-cbm SCF Barents docked at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Monday.

The vessel would unload its cargo and depart from the Krk Facility on Thursday, LNG Croatia said, without providing any additional information.

Shell started using the 2020-built SCF Barents as part of a long-term charter deal with Russia’s Sovcomflot in September last year.

Prior to arriving at the Krk terminal, the vessel loaded the cargo at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, its AIS data shows.

This shipment marks the 13th LNG cargo since the start of operations at the Krk facility on January 1 but also the eighth shipment from the US.

The LNG Croatia FSRU has also received two cargoes from Qatar and Nigeria, each, and one from Belgium’s Zeebrugge.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

Switzerland-based trading firm MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
