HAM completes Chile’s first LNG filling station

A unit of Spain’s HAM Group said it has completed Chile’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station for Lipigas.

HAM Chile, along with Lipigas, designed, built, and launched the LNG filling station located at the facilities of Transportes San Gabriel, Linares in Chile’s central Maule region, according to a statement by HAM on Wednesday.

The firm revealed this contract in October last year.

This project has been possible thanks to Lipigas, Transportes San Gabriel, and the multinational AB InBev, a company that will incorporate 35 LNG-powered trucks to its fleet, HAM said.

These trucks would refuel at the new service station, contributing to a reduction of more than 800 tons per year of CO2 emissions and an 80 percent reduction in fine particles, the firm said.
