GTT bags new LNG tank job from Hyundai Samho

South Korea’s Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has contracted Paris-based GTT to design tanks for two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers.

Both of the 174,000-cbm LNG tankers would feature the Mark III Flex membrane containment system, according to a GTT statement.

Hyundai Samho would deliver the ships to an unnamed European owner in the third quarter of 2024, GTT said.

The LNG containment specialist did not provide any additional information.

This order follows a similar contract for two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers GTT announced earlier this month. Hyundai Samho will deliver these vessels to an unnamed European owner in the first quarter of 2024.

VesselsValue data shows that Norway’s Knutsen and Russia’s Sovcomflot are the only firms that have 174,000-cbm LNG carriers on order at Hyundai Samho for delivery in 2024.
