DSME awards new LNG tank gig to GTT

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has contracted Paris-based GTT to design tanks for one LNG carrier.

The 174,000-cbm LNG tanker would feature the NO96 GW membrane containment system, according to a GTT statement.

DSME would deliver the ship to South Korean shipowner Hyundai LNG Shipping in the first half of 2024, GTT said.

The Korean yard revealed this order worth 227.8 billion won ($197) million on August 2.

This order followed a similar contract DSME and Hyundai LNG revealed in May this year for one carrier.

Both of the vessels will go on charter to Spain’s Repsol.
