GTT signs LNG services deal with Knutsen

French LNG containment specialist GTT has signed a global technical services deal with Norwegian shipowner Knutsen.

Under the deal signed in June, the French company will support Knutsen with the maintenance and operation of 17 LNG carriers.

GTT said in a statement on Wednesday the deal lasts until 2022.

The vessels, out of which five are under construction in South Korea, feature GTT’s Mark III Flex or NO96 technologies.

The French specialist will provide on-site technical assistance for inspection, maintenance, repairs, operations and engineering services.

As part of the deal, Knutsen will also have access to GTT’s emergency hotline.

This service enables shipowners and their crews to contact GTT’s experts 24/7 to respond to operational issues, it said.

Commenting the announcement, chief executive Philippe Berterottiere said GTT was “pleased” to renew and expand this agreement with a long-term partner like Knutsen.

Worth mentioning here, Knutsen has recently taken the delivery of its newest LNG newbuild Traiano Knutsen.

The 180,000-cbm vessel will serve a long-term charter deal with Italy’s Enel.
