US weekly LNG exports hit record low

US LNG exports have dropped considerably reaching their weekly lows as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to destroy demand all over the globe.

EIA said in its weekly gas natural gas report that four US terminals dispatched only four LNG cargoes during the week July 9-July 15.

The total capacity of the LNG vessels carrying these cargoes is 15 billion cubic feet.

This compares to six LNG ships with a combined capacity of 22 billion cubic feet the week before.

Cheniere’s Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana shipped two cargoes in the week under review.

Dominion’s Cove Point plant in Maryland and Sempra’s Cameron terminal dispatched one shipment, each.

EIA said this weekly export volume is the lowest since December 8, 2016 when only Sabine Pass operated with two trains.

The Henry Hub spot price dropped from $1.79 per million British thermal units last Wednesday to $1.71/MMBtu recorded this Wednesday.

Natural gas deliveries to US LNG export plants increased slightly to 3.3 billion cubic feet per day from the 3.1 Bcf/d recorded the week before, EIA data shows.
