Second Dynagas FSRU starts trials in China

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua is moving forward with works on the second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) it is building for Greek shipping company Dynagas.

Hudong said in a statement it has completed dry dock works on the 174,000-cbm Transgas Force.

The Chinese yard undocked the FSRU on September 30, ahead of the beginning of sea trials for the 294 meters long and 47 meters wide vessel.

Hudong did not provide any additional information, but the vessel’s AIS data shows it was on Monday located in the Eastern China Sea, meaning it had already started its sea trials.

The state-owned yard launched this vessel in December last year, the second and the final sister FSRU it is building for Dynagas.

In July this year, Dynagas took delivery of the 174,000-cbm Transgas Power. Brokers previously said this ship serves France’s TotalEnergies.

Both of the FSRUs feature three Wartsila regasification modules. Each regas unit will have a capacity of 250 million standard cubic feet per day. The rated send-out capacity is about 500 million standard cubic feet per day.

Also, the FSRUs have a powerful MAN dual-fuel diesel-electric propulsion and GTT’s NO96 containment system.

Hudong should deliver the second FSRU by the end of this year.
