ExxonMobil names new India head

US energy giant ExxonMobil has appointed Monte Dobson to lead its unit in India, while the current chief will assume a new role in the company’s global LNG business.

After more than 4 years as lead country manager in India, Bill Davis will transfer to Houston, Texas, to assume a new assignment in ExxonMobil’s global LNG business, ExxonMobil India said in a statement.

ExxonMobil through its affiliates and joint ventures, including PNG LNG, produces about 23 mtpa of LNG globally, according to its website.

Dobson will replace Davis as CEO and lead country manager in India.

Prior to the new appointment, Dobson led technology development for unconventional resources at ExxonMobil’s upstream integrated solutions business.

In this role, he led the development of new technologies to improve the environmental profile and cost-competitiveness of unconventional resources, the firm said.

“India’s huge growth potential and remarkable talent are competitive advantages for the country and for ExxonMobil,” said Dobson, adding that India would play a “critical role” in the global energy transition.
