Croatian FSRU welcomes 15th LNG cargo

Croatia’s first and only floating storage and regasification unit, located at the Krk facility in the northern Adriatic Sea, has received its fifteenth shipment of LNG.

The 2007-built 145,000-cbm Methane Nile Eagle, chartered by Shell, docked at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Thursday, according to the state-owned operator LNG Croatia.

LNG Croatia said this marks the second LNG carrier arrival in the gas year 2021/2022 and the fifteenth since the start of commercial operations on January 1.

The firm did not provide any additional information.

This is not the first time for the LNG carrier Methane Nile Eagle to dock at the Croatian FSRU.

A unit of Switzerland-based trading firm MET Group used the vessel in April this year to deliver a reloaded LNG cargo from Zeebrugge to the Krk facility.

According to its AIS data, the LNG carrier visited the Dunkirk LNG import plant in France prior to delivering this new cargo.

Besides these two shipments, the LNG Croatia FSRU received eight cargoes from the US, two cargoes from Qatar and Nigeria, each, and one from Trinidad and Tobago.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
