Italian FSRU gets 100th LNG cargo

Italy’s OLT Offshore LNG Toscana said Monday its FSRU located off the coast between Livorno and Pisa received its 100th cargo of the fuel.

The milestone ship-to-ship operation between FSRU Toscana and Bonito LNG took place on July 31, OLT said.

According to its AIS data, the TMS Cardiff Gas 174,000-cbm carrier previously loaded the fuel at Nigeria’s Bonny LNG plant.

OLT’s LNG terminal has received shipments from all over the globe. The sources include countries such as Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago, and the US.

The facility also received reexported cargoes from other European terminals in Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

The total quantity of LNG discharged to the FSRU so far is about 13.8 million liquid cubic meters, OLT said, adding that the FSRU has been working at 100% of its capacity since 2018.

The FSRU has a capacity of 3.75 billion cubic metres a year sending the fuel to Italy’s national grid via a 36.5 km-long pipeline.

Italy’s Snam has a 49.07% stake in the LNG terminal while Australian fund First State Investments owns a 48.24% share.

Golar LNG that provided the FSRU has a minor 2.69% stake in the LNG import facility.
