ECONNECT scores new contract for its LNG transfer tech

Norway-based ECONNECT Energy said it has secured a contract with an undisclosed global energy firm to deliver its jettyless LNG transfer technology IQuay.

The firm said in a statement on Tuesday it would provide a proprietary transfer system between an offshore LNG facility to a permanently moored floating storage, for a variety of extreme metocean conditions.

It did not reveal any additional information on the project.

ECONNECT’s patented transfer system, the IQuay C-Class, debuted in 2017 in the “world’s first jettyless, floating transfer,” the firm says.

Earlier this year, the tech company joined forces with several industry partners for a ship-to-shore LNG transfer in Heroya, Norway.

Gasum-chartered and Anthony Veder-owned small LNG carrier, Coral Energy, delivered a cargo of LNG with the IQuay system to the Heroya onshore terminal.

To date, ECONNECT and Naturgy have developed, built and commissioned the only existing jettyless floating LNG transfer system in the world, the Oslo-based firm, previously known as Connect LNG, claims.

The IQuay has previously connected to a variety of vessel types – LNG carriers, chemical carriers, offshore supply vessels, tug boats – and operated in 3 different locations.

Moreover, companies can use the IQuay F-Class offering for permanent or semi-permanent installations and connect it to any FSU or FSRU, the firm said.

The IQuay F-Class connects vessels to offshore production terminals, floating storage units, and can be combined with the jettyless IQuay C-Class to provide separation between the floating terminal and the visiting LNG carrier, it said.
