GasLog Partners secures LNG charter with China’s Jovo

GasLog Partners said Wednesday it signed a charter deal for the LNG carrier Methane Shirley Elisabeth with a unit of Chinese privately-owned energy firm JOVO.

The spinoff of Greece-based GasLog chartered vessel for a period of about two years to Singapore Carbon Hydrogen Energy.

The 2007-built 145,000-cbm vessel previously served the Hague-based LNG giant Shell under a long-term charter.

JOVO’s unit started using the steam-powered LNG tanker on July 12.

According to shipping data, the vessel was on August 5 located at Subic Bay in the Philippines previously loading a cargo at Qatar’s Ras Laffan complex.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority said in a statement this week the vessel would transfer its LNG cargo to smaller feeder ships in the next two weeks.

JOVO has been conducting STS transfers in the bay since 2017 from conventional-sized carriers to smaller vessels for onward distribution to China.

The company operates the 1.5 mtpa Dongguan LNG terminal located in Guangdong in South China.

However, the facility can only receive smaller-sized vessels.
