Australia’s Woodside says finance chief resigns

Australian LNG firm Woodside said on Tuesday its chief financial officer Sherry Duhe would resign to pursue a career opportunity with another ASX-listed company.

Woodside did not reveal the name of the firm but Newcrest Mining said in a separate statement that Duhe would join the firm as its new finance chief in early 2022.

Duhe would remain with Woodside into the first quarter of 2022 to “ensure a smooth transition of her key responsibilities,” Woodside said.

The LNG player added it has started the process to find Duhe’s successor.

Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill noted the “significant contribution” Duhe has made since joining Woodside in late 2017.

“Sherry’s financial and commercial stewardship of Woodside over the last four years has been integral to continuing Woodside’s success. Over this time she has maintained a strong balance sheet which has provided Woodside’s resilience in challenging trading circumstances,” O’Neill said.

“Sherry’s passionate leadership has been central to delivering the financial and commercial architecture for our proposed merger with BHP’s petroleum business and the Scarborough development,” she said.

Woodside said in August it had signed a merger agreement with BHP’s oil and gas business.

The proposed merger worth about $28 billion would create the largest energy company listed on the ASX, with a global top 10 position in the LNG industry by production, according to Woodside.
