GTT clinches LNG tank gig from DSME

French engineer GTT has won a contract from South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to design tanks for one 174,000-cbm LNG carrier.

The vessel would feature GTT’s NO96 GW membrane containment system, GTT said in a statement on Tuesday.

DSME would deliver the vessel to an unidentified Asian owner in the second half of 2024, GTT said, but it did not provide any additional information.

This order could be related to DSME’s filing to the stock exchange in October.

The yard said then it would build one LNG carrier for about $197 million. DSME said it would deliver the vessel to an owner based in Oceania by September 2024.

Brokers reported after this announcement that Japan’s MOL could be the owner behind this order.
