Corsica Linea to take delivery of first LNG ferry in 2022

French shipping firm Corsica Linea says it would take delivery of its first LNG-powered RoPax ferry in July 2022.

Italy’s Visentini shipyard has launched the LNG-powered vessel in September, some two years after it started building the 206 meters long ship.

Corsica Linea said in an update it would name the vessel “A Galeotta”.

The LNG-powered ferry would begin sea trials in May 2022, ahead of its delivery scheduled for July the same year, the company said.

It will have the capacity to accommodate 650 passengers and 2,560 lane meters of freight. Also, the vessel will be able to carry 150 cars on a separate deck.

Corsica Linea’s ferries provide year-round services from Marseille, the main trading port in France to the Mediterranean island of Corsica.

Worth mentioning here, France’s first LNG bunkering vessel, Gas Vitality, will soon start serving vessels from the Marseille-Fos area in France.

The 18,600-cbm vessel owned by Japan’s MOL and chartered by France’s TotalEnergies should arrive in France from China in December.
