China has moved up from second in January to first place this time, owning a total of $191 bn in assets. China owns the largest number of containers and, consequently, the recent surge in rates and values has moved them up the ranks to top spot in terms of fleet value.

Japan has fallen from first to second place, owning a total of $187 billion in assets. This is an increase of over $70 billion since January, highlighting the booming bulker, LPG, and vehicle carrier markets, VesselsValue said.

Greece has bumped its way up to third place in the rankings since January this year. Their total value increased from $93.2 billion at the beginning of the year to $145 billion. Besides being the owner of the most valuable LNG fleet, Greece is also the largest tanker owner.
