Eneti orders 2nd LNG-ready wind turbine installation vessel at DSME

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering will build another LNG-ready offshore wind turbine installation vessel for Monaco-based Eneti as part of a contract revealed on Thursday.

The contract has a price tag of $326 million. DSME would deliver the vessel early in the second quarter of 2025, Eneti, previously known as Scorpio Bulkers, said.

Eneti has exercised an option as part of the contract the duo had signed for the first vessel in May.

Such as the first ship, the vessel is an NG-16000X design by GustoMSC, a unit of National Oilwell Varco. It will feature a 2,600-ton leg encircling crane from Dutch firm Huisman Equipment.

In addition, the vessel will have the capability to install up to 20 Megawatt turbines at depths of up to 65 meters of water.

Eneti added the vessel can be adapted to operate on alternative fuels such as LNG or ammonia.
