Gasum in new biogas deal

Finland-based LNG and LBG supplier Gasum has signed another biogas deal as it looks to cater to an increasing demand for the fuel in road transport.

Gasum and Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, have agreed to cooperate on biogas processing at a biogas facility operating as part of the latter’s Äänekoski bioproduct mill.

Under the deal, Metsä Fibre would be responsible for the plant’s overall operations, whereas Gasum would take over the daily remote operation and maintenance of biogas processing, according to a Gasum statement.

Also, Gasum said it would buy the biogas produced at the plant for use as a road transport fuel in the company’s network of filling stations.

The biogas plant would use wood-based sludge from the bioproduct mill to produce biogas but also biopellets which Metsä Fibre’s power plant-plant would take for energy production, Gasum said.
