Cheniere: sixth Sabine Pass train produces first LNG cargo

US LNG exporting giant Cheniere said it has produced the first LNG cargo from the sixth production train at its Sabine Pass liquefaction plant in Louisiana.

Cheniere announced this via its social media on Tuesday, but it did not provide any additional information.

The firm expects to reach substantial completion of the 5 mtpa unit in the first quarter of next year.

This milestone follows the start of production at the new unit in late November.

In September, Cheniere introduced feed gas to the unit after receiving approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Bechtel is building this train, such as the previous five units and the three trains at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi plant.

Upon completion, Bechtel would transfer the completed train to Cheniere Partners, a unit of Cheniere, and Sabine Pass’ total production capacity would reach about 30 mtpa of LNG, the firm said.
