Another US LNG cargo lands at Croatian FSRU

Croatia’s first and only FSRU-based LNG import terminal on the island of Krk has received another liquefied natural gas cargo from the US.

The 2007-built 145,000-cbm Methane Nile Eagle, chartered by Shell, docked at the 140,000-cbm FSRU on Thursday, according to the state-owned operator LNG Croatia.

LNG Croatia said this marks the 18th LNG carrier arrival since the start of commercial operations on January 1 this year.

This is also the third visit for the LNG Methane Nile Eagle to the LNG Croatia FSRU. The LNG carrier delivered the 15th shipment and the fifth cargo.

LNG Croatia did not reveal the source of the LNG for this latest shipment but Methane Nile Eagle’s AIS data provided by VesselsValue shows that the vessel previously picked up the cargo at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi plant in Texas.

Including this cargo, the FSRU received in total ten US LNG shipments since the start of operations.

It also received two cargoes from Qatar and Nigeria, each, and one each from Trinidad and Tobago and Egypt. The FSRU took one cargo each from the Zeebrugge and Dunkirk facilities as well.

Croatia’s first LNG terminal has the capacity to send up to 2.6 bcm per year of natural gas into the national grid.

MET, Hungary’s MFGK, and Qatar’s PowerGlobe have booked almost all of the volumes at the Krk facility for the next three years.
