GasNet working on first fixed Czech LNG filling station

Natural gas distributor GasNet has joined forces with Italy’s Tecnogas to build the first fixed LNG filling station for trucks in the Czech Republic.

Tecnogas says it is currently installing the first fixed LNG filling station in the Czech Republic in Kosmonosy, close to Prague.

According to the Italian firm, this would be the first of a number of LNG filling stations that Tecnogas would build for GasNet.

The company did not provide any additional information.

Earlier this year, GasNet opened its second mobile LNG filling station for trucks in the Czech Republic as an increasing number of transport firms opt for the fuel to slash costs and emissions.

For this station, GasNet joined forces with Spain’s HAM. GasNet opened its first mobile filling station near Prague last year.

The firm is looking to develop a nationwide network of filling stations that would supply LNG but also bio-LNG to vehicles.

GasNet is the largest gas operator in the Czech Republic. It operates almost 65,000 km of pipelines, according to its website.

A consortium led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) owns GasNet.

In addition, the two other partners include the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) and Allianz Capital Partners.
