Qatari LNG shipping giant Nakilat has taken full control of another carrier from Shell’s trading and shipping unit as part of the second phase of its fleet management transition.

The world’s largest LNG shipper assumed full ship management and operations of the 210,200-cbm Q-Flex Al Sadd on August 13.

The Nakilat-owned 315 meters long vessel serves under a long-term charter contract with Qatari LNG producer Qatargas.

South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering delivered the vessel back in September 2011.

Al Sadd is the fifth LNG carrier that will come under the management of Nakilat Shipping Qatar (NSQL) this year.

With the new addition, the total number of vessels managed by the Nakilat unit increased to 24. This includes 20 LNG and four LPG carriers.

Nakilat’s total fleet stands at 74 vessels, including one FSRU and four LNG newbuilds scheduled for delivery by end-2021
