Gazprom’s board approves deal with Linde on third Ust-Luga LNG train

Russian gas giant Gazprom said its board has approved a memorandum with Linde regarding the construction of the third liquefaction train at the natural gas and LNG production complex in the Baltic port of Ust-Luga.

Gazprom and partner RusGazDobycha started building the massive complex earlier this year. RusKhimAlyans, a joint venture established on a parity basis by the duo, will operate the complex.

Also, Linde and Renaissance Heavy Industries have won a contract to build the two-train 13 mtpa LNG export plant, which is a part of the complex.

Gazprom said in October that RusKhimAlyans and Linde signed a memorandum of intent to “assess the possibility” of building the third production train.

The state-owned firm said on Friday that its board has approved the memorandum of intent with Linde and RusKhimAlyans on building the third LNG train.

It did not reveal any additional information.

Gazprom previously said it had expected the first LNG train of the complex to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the second train in the fourth quarter of 2024.

However, these dates would probably move to 2024 and 2025.
