Uniper’s Liqvis continues to expand its network of LNG filling stations for trucks with the opening of a new facility near the western German city of Bonn.
The new LNG filling station is located in Gewerbepark Dachsberg, Bad Honnef, according to a Liqvis statement on Monday.
Liqvis says this filling station complements the firm’s growing LNG network in Germany but also in France.
It is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the EU and built in cooperation with Dutch cryogenic tech firm Cryonorm.
According to its website, Liqvis now has seven operational LNG filling stations in Germany and six under development. Prior to this facility, it launched a filling station near Hamburg.
Liqvis operates two filling stations in France as well.
The market for LNG as a truck fuel is growing rapidly in Germany as owners look to slash emissions but also a road tax exemption for such vehicles until the end of 2023.
Europe has now at least 474 LNG filling stations in operation, according to Brussels-based association NGVA Europe.
Italy leads the way and has 110 LNG filling stations in operation, followed by Germany with 88 stations, the data shows.
