Novatek adds another German LNG station

A unit of Russia’s indpendent gas producer Novatek has recently opened another LNG filling station in Germany boosting the total number to three.

Novatek Green Energy launched the LNG filling station to provide fuel for trucks in Buchholz Aller, north of Hannover.

The LNG filling station hast he capacity to refuel up to 150 vehicles per day.

The firm opened its first station in Rostock in December 2019 followed by another in Potsdam in April.

Novatek plans to build a network of stations in Germany and Poland within the next few years at the key transport connecting points.

The firms sees “significant growth potential” in this market due to increasingly stringent environmental standards and “affordable” LNG price.

In addition, the German government has earlier this year extended the existing highway tolls exemption for LNG-powered trucks until 2023.

This will also boost the use of LNG as truck owners look to cut costs and emissions.
