McDermott bags G2 power plant FEED gig

G2 Net-Zero, the developer of an $11 billion LNG and energy complex in Louisiana, awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for its planned power generation plant to Houston-based McDermott.

According to a statement by G2 issued this week, work would begin this month and last about nine months.

The firm did not reveal any additional information regarding the contract.

G2 CEO Angele Davis said McDermott would help “propel G2 toward profitable on-schedule production of our much-anticipated net-zero emission products.”

The venture of Chas Roemer Innovations plans to use technology developed by NET Power and Siemens to provide emission-free electricity, LNG, as well as industrial by-products like blue ammonia, argon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen.

G2 claims its facility would be the world’s first LNG export and industrial gas production complex promising net-zero carbon emissions from upstream to dockside.

The facility would consist of 10 1.3 mtpa trains with Capex of $500-$550 per million tons of capacity, it previously said.

Subject to a final investment decision and other conditions, it expects to launch the plant located along the Gulf Coast in southwest Louisiana in 2027.
