Titan expanding LNG bunkering business

Dutch liquefied natural gas supplier Titan LNG has added two German ports to its growing network in Europe.

Titan chartered the 5,200-cbm Engie Zeebrugge last week to perform the bunkering operations to two LNG-powered vessels.

Engie, Mitsubishi Corporation, NYK Line, and Fluxys jointly own the bunkering ship.

On August 13, the vessel arrived with a a cargo from Rotterdam in Germany’s port of Emden where Titan delivered just over 1000 tons of LNG to the car carrier Siem Confucius.

The vessel owned by Siem Car Carriers serves Volkswagen on the trans-Atlantic route, so-called America Round Tour, from Emden to Mexico.

To remind, Niedersachsen Ports that operates the Emden port already reported on this development earlier this week.

This marked the first ever ship-to-ship LNG transfer in the port.

After the first bunkering in Emden, the Engie Zeebrugge sailed on to deliver 150 tons to the DEME-owned dredger Scheldt River in the port of Brunsbüttel.

Titan has previously supplied the Scheldt River, but this marked the first time in the German port.

This port on the entrance to the Kieler Channel is well positioned to become an LNG bunkering hub due to its strategic location, Titan said.
