K Line’s LNG car carrier launched

Japan’s Tadotsu yard, part of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, recently launched an LNG-powered car carrier for compatriot K Line.

The launching event for the 200 meters long vessel took place on July 31, according to K Line.

The Japanese shipping giant says it will take the delivery of the carrier within the 2020 fiscal year.

The dual-fuel vessel is equipped with MAN B&W ME-GI engines.

Furthermore, tt also features a C type LNG tank supplied by TGE Marine Gas Engineering, a unit of Mitsui E&S Group.

K Line said it opted for LNG as fuel to respond to stricter international fuel rules but also to slash shipping emissions.
