Norwegian marine compressor specialist TMC has won a contract from Jiangsu New Yangzi to supply its equipment for fifteen LNG-powered container vessels the Chinese yard is building for Seaspan.
Under the deal, TMC would deliver the marine compressed air system to each of the 7,000 TEU vessels, it said in a statement.
This includes compressors for service/control air and for the exhaust gas recirculation system.
TMC did not reveal the value of the deal.
Last year, Atlas Corp’s Seaspan and Israel’s ZIM signed charter deals for these LNG-powered container vessels.
The two firms also agreed on ten 15,000 TEU LNG-powered vessels that will serve ZIM’s Asia-US East Coast trade.
South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries will build these ships.
