South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering has received an order from Maria Angelicoussis-led Maran Gas to build two more LNG carriers.
According to DSME, Maran Gas ordered two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers for 525 billion won ($435 million).
This order follows a contract between the partners for two LNG carriers revealed earlier this month. The previous two vessels have a price tag of 502.1 billion won.
DSME said the two new LNG carriers would have MAN ME-GI propulsion and a reliquefaction system.
The yard will deliver the two ships to Maran Gas in the second half of 2025.
Besides these two LNG carriers, DSME said it has won an order from a European owner for six container vessels.
This order has a price tag of 1.31 trillion won ($1.08 billion) and DSME will deliver these ships in the second half of 2025 as well.
DSME did not reveal any additional information regarding the container vessels.
Shipbuilding sources said that Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime could be behind this order. The order includes six 15,000-teu LNG-powered container vessels.
Including the new contracts, DSME secured orders worth about $2.77 billion for 12 ships, including five LNG vessels, six containerships, and one field control station.
Last year, the yard won about $10.8 billion in orders, exceeding its target of $7.7 billion.
