Eastern Pacific Shipping orders LNG-powered PCTC duo in China

Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has ordered two more LNG-powered pure truck and car carriers in China, according to shipbrokers.

The Singapore-based firm ordered two firm LNG dual-fuel 7,000 CEU PCTCs at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai, Clarksons Platou and other brokers reported.

CMJL Weihai would deliver the vessels in 2025, Clarksons Platou said.

The Chinese yard and EPS signed a deal for four LNG-powered PCTCs, including two options, in August last year.

According to the EPS website, the firm has at least nine PCTCs on order scheduled for delivery between 2023-2025.

With these two ships, the total would reach eleven LNG-powered newbuilds.

All of the dual-fuel ships would be about 199 meters long and carry some 7,050 units.

VesselsValue data shows that these PCTC orders were placed at two China Merchants yards, namely CMJL Weihai and CMJL Nanjing. EPS ordered four PCTCs with two options at the latter in June last year.
