Harvey Gulf adds battery power to LNG PSV

US privately-owned firm Harvey Gulf International Marine has installed a battery pack onboard its LNG-powered platform supply vessel.

Now the PSV Harvey Energy, which is already a dual-fuel vessel capable of ruining both on LNG and diesel, features a Wartsila battery-power system.

New Orleans-based Harvey claims that with this move it becomes the first and only company in America to own and operate a “tri-fuel” vessel.

At the same time, Harvey launched operations at its new diesel bunkering facility in Port Fourchon, LA, pairing it with Harvey’s LNG bunkering operations there.

Harvey will also complete installation of a GE battery-power system on its PSV Harvey Champion in September, it said.
