Norwegian shipping firm Flex LNG has added another vessel to its fleet, boosting the total number of carriers in operation to nine.

South Korea’s DSME delivered the 173,400-cbm Flex Resolute on Friday, according to the firm controlled by billionaire John Fredriksen.

The company previously said it chartered the vessel on a fixed rate for a period of 11 months to an unidentified party.

Flex Resolute is fitted with MAN’s high pressure two-stroke slow-speed propulsion system (ME-GI) and GTT’s NO96 containment system.

It also features a reliquefaction system with a boil-off rate of 0.035% per day.

This is the third newbuild of the year for the LNG shipper following the delivery of the Flex Aurora and Flex Artemis.

Flex LNG has four more newbuilds on order in South Korea with two scheduled for delivery this year and two in the first half of 2021.
